why we modify OPPO 105/105D?

Like many Audiophile users of OPPO 105/105D, main concerns are how we can extract most from 2 cannel analog audio output of OPPO 105/105D.

  In other to do this, there have been many discussion and experiments .

  So far, there are 3 main points to reach this goal

 

1. Linear power supply.

  The LPM offers significantly enhanced audio and video performance over the standard switch mode power supplies. You will notice the improvement instantly, and with 100 hours burn-in its true ability will come out.

 The 'Special Edition' version has the best possible parts for even better performance.

  Standard capacitors have been upgraded to low ESR Nichicon electrolytic audio grade capacitors.

  Multiple all discrete Schottky barrier diodes are now used throughout. The lower voltage drop of the diodes provides higher switching speed and better system efficiency, while producing less heat, EMI and switching noise.

  Wima polypropylene and tantalum capacitors are included for regulator IC buffering and impendence matching.

  An easy to install module that requires no soldering or technical ability. Can be done in 5 minutes( or 15 min. in case of OPPO 105/10D)  with just a screw driver.

 

 

2. Clock mod.

  The digital system depends heavily on clocking.

  The existing clock is normal, 300 PPM class clock.

  As the clock becomes more accurate, we can feel the sound stage is more defined and the depth of sound becomes more deep while we can distinguish each musical instruments much easier.

In video respect, the edge of each object is more clear. the color becomes more vivid and splendid.

  The TCXO is a temperature controlled crystal oscillator module running at 2.5 ppm. It enhances audio and video performance to a large degree.

 

The TCXO Module draws it's power from the LPM Module and then creates its own 3.3v regulated voltage. Installation requires fine soldering skill and technical ability.

 

You will also require an LPM to power this clock module.

  The OCXO is an oven controlled crystal oscillator module running at 0.01 ppm. It enhances audio and video performance to a very large degree.

  The OCXO Module draws it's power from the LPM Module and then creates its own 3.3v regulated voltage. Installation requires fine soldering skill and technical ability.

  Only the main system clock is OCXO in this module, the secondary clocks are TCXO. The main system clock is the most important for doing clock upgrades.

  You will also require an LPM to power this clock module.

3. Analog DAC mod.

  This upgrade is a done to the Sabre analog DAC output board of the Oppo 105/105D.

 It enhances audio quality to a very high degree. ( not Video )

 

STEP 1

 Upgrade the Sabre DAC clock to a 100 MHz TCXO. This adds 384KHz file play functionality while improving sound with greater detail and more accuracy.

 

STEP 2

  Replace the existing 8 fast recovery diodes with the revolutionary Schottky barrier diodes. This Schottky diode module has very little voltage drop which provides higher switching speed and better system efficiency.

 

STEP 3

 Bypass electrolytic capacitors at both balanced and unbalanced 2 channel audio outputs. Direct coupled outputs gives clearer sound. In case of direct connection to Power amp, we install 1uF/63V Wima film capacitors as coupling capacitor.

 

STEP 4.

install pre 5V regulator between rectifiers and 3.3V and 1.2V regulators

and fix minor error in 3.3 V regulator section which need 33uF tantal capacitors between output and ground .

 

replace normal capacitors with OSCON and Nichicon KW capacitors .

 

 

 

 

 

 

To do this modification, you will need to remove the analog audio board and post it to us.

 

This effects mostly to 2 Channel audio, but it enhance 7.1 analog audio performnce too since clock and analog power sections are common.
